1. What this service is

FactoryRegistry is a free, public registry of U.S. manufacturing facilities, compiled from federal records including the EPA Facility Registry Service, EPA Toxics Release Inventory, OSHA injury reporting, SAM.gov, FDA establishment registrations, TTB permits and U.S. Census data. There is no login, no paywall and nothing on this site can be paid for. No business pays to appear, to rank higher, or to be described differently.

The underlying federal records are public domain. Our compilation, selection, arrangement, design, written text and computed fields — such as operating status and confidence — are owned by FactoryRegistry and its licensors.

2. What we claim, and what we do not

We report what public sources say and when they said it. Every status on this site is computed from independent federal records and shows its working: which sources contributed, and the date of the most recent signal. That is the whole of the claim being made.

We do not claim that any record is complete, current or free of error. Federal source data is imperfect, filings lag reality, businesses move, rename, merge and close, and an address can be shared by several operations. A status of “active” means independent sources recently showed an operating signal — not that we have verified the business is trading today. A facility with no recent signal is not thereby closed.

Do not use a listing as the sole basis for a commercial, credit, employment or legal decision. Verify with the business or the underlying source before acting.

3. Corrections and removal

If a record about your business is wrong, we will fix it. Corrections are free, require no account, and are not conditional on anything. Every facility page carries a correction link, and a business can ask to be removed from the public register entirely.

Corrections are recorded as signals against the record rather than silently overwriting it, so the register keeps an honest history of what each source said and when. Where a source and a correction disagree, we show both. Requests reach us at hello@factoryregistry.com and through the correction form on any facility page.

4. Claiming a facility

If you claim a facility you confirm that you are authorized to act for that business. You keep ownership of everything you submit and grant FactoryRegistry a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and distribute it as part of the register, including in search results and data exports.

Do not submit anything you do not have the right to publish, anything false or misleading, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights. We may decline, edit or remove a claim or submission. Claiming is free, does not affect ranking, and never will.

5. Acceptable use

This is a public register and we want it read, cited and linked. What we ask is that you do not:

• crawl or scrape at a rate that degrades the site for other people;
• misrepresent your authority to claim or alter a facility record;
• use the register to harass, defraud or impersonate any business or person;
• attempt to gain access to accounts, systems or data you are not entitled to;
• remove or obscure attribution when republishing material from the site;
• use the site in violation of any applicable law, including export and sanctions law.

Automated access is welcome within reason. Our robots.txt states what is crawlable, and we publish sitemaps so you do not have to guess. If you need bulk data, ask — it is cheaper for both of us than scraping.

6. Third-party data and links

The register incorporates federal public-domain records, map tiles and basemap data from CARTO and OpenStreetMap contributors, and links to third-party websites. Those sources carry their own terms and licenses. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices.

7. Intellectual property

Federal source data is public domain and you may use it freely. Our original contribution — the compilation, the written text, the design, the logo and the computed fields — is protected. You may quote and cite the register with attribution and a link. You may not republish it wholesale as your own product.

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, write to hello@factoryregistry.com with the material identified, your contact details, and a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized. We will respond promptly.

8. Availability

The site is provided free of charge and we do not guarantee that it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, including any record or feature, at any time.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement, and including any warranty as to accuracy, completeness or currency of any record.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FactoryRegistry will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost business, lost data or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of — or inability to use — the site, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Because the site is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to it will not exceed one hundred United States dollars (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is so, the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FactoryRegistry from any claim, demand, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the site, anything you submit to it, or your breach of these terms.

12. Suspension

We may restrict or block access — including by IP address or user agent — where use is degrading the service for others, breaching these terms, or unlawful. Where a claimed page is involved we will normally contact the claimant first.

13. Privacy

The register is about businesses and facilities, not individuals. How we handle the limited personal information we do hold — a claimant’s contact details, for example — is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms. Where a change materially affects claimed pages, we will make a reasonable effort to notify claimants.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the exclusive venue for disputes is the state or federal courts located there. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
